You're assuming that the case law that state courts have to obey lower federal courts is correct. It seems to me that the correctness of those decisions is as open to question as the federal case law on the First Amendment.

That's not case law - it's written into the Constitution as the Supremacy Clause.

How many divorced people, especially men, have you met who thought they got a fair shake in their divorce decree? How many defendants held liable for negligence admit they made a mistake? How many people in jail will admit they did the crime? Having a Chief Justice take the position that people don't have to obey court orders they disagree with is a prescription for anarchy.

I don't like the federal decision any better than the others on this thread but the way to go about changing this is not to tear down the rule of law.
