Totally unrealistic. You can't plan to shoot to wound. That's for Hollywood. Think about trying to hit a moving arm or leg.

I don't know all the facts, so I can't say that the LEO's weren't a little hasty. But if it gets to that point - for police or private citizen - center mass is your friend....

You're right...you can't expect a cop shooting from 3 feet away to hit a leg.

The cop is indeed fortunate that he was able to hit the guy at all from that distance.

From "three steps" away? If you can't hit someone in a lower extremity from that close, you don't deserve to be carrying a firearm. Period.
