I'm not a lawyer, but when the supreme court of your state orders a lower court judge to do something, I expect there's one or more laws to back them up.
Hey, don't get me wrong on this. I have no stake in the ground on whether the posting of the 10 commandments causes good or causes harm. But do we *really* want lower court judges to start freely disregarding what the higher courts say. If another Alabama judge started recognising same-sex marriages, wouldn't you want him to toe the line if the higher court told him to stop?

A judge's legal authority extends only so far as he's properly applying the law. The 11th Circuit court is clearly outside the bounds of the law, as there's no possible way that this monument can be violating anybody's rights under 14th amendment, which is what Moore has been accused of violating.
