Roy Moore has ridden this issue to his position. He picked a fight with the ACLU while he was a circuit judge in Gadsden (an opponent that nobody likes). He rode this all the way to Montgomery. He is not very well liked, nor respected by the other judges, or the the republican lawyers who have appeared in front of him.

It is a common belief that he is just as calculating as Clinton, and just as cynical.

What do you people who have probably never spent a day in Alabama, know of our politicians? Don't fall into the trap of hero worship, just because he tweaks the nose of the ACLU.

We are not a theocracy. He is sworn to uphold the law. If he violates a court order, he should be impeached.

Don't forget that it is the citizens of your state that voted him into office. Don't try to ignore that fact and place all the blame on us for liking the guy.

It seems to me that every signer of our declaration of independance violated a court order and declared this a theocracy when they signed the word. "We hold these truths to be self evident. That all men are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. It takes a theocracy to get its citizens rights from our crerator."

You know the origin of a court order don't you? It was an order from the King issued by the King's Court upon the KING's Order. The Court was wereever the King was and it consisted of his noble men and women who carried out his orders. They were of course orders of the COURT. And the only court was the kings court.

Washingon, Jefferson, Madison, Adams and Monroe... all are revered presidential heros of this nation. All made their reputation by violating court orders. When Patrick Henry said "Give me libery or Give me death.. he was violationg a COURT ORDER."

Violating unjust Court Orders and rights endowed by God are how this nation was created and the basis on which it exists tos govern!

While I am in general agreement that the 1stA's prohibition ("make NO law...") gives Moore a firm basis for his position...

...his cynicism and arrogance comes through whenever I see him on Hannity/Colmes.

He picked a fight with the ACLU. . .

That's a good thing. In fact, he may be the only judge doing this and it very much has to be done.

He is sworn to uphold the law. If he violates a court order, he should be impeached.

He is also sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. It's as binding on state judges and justices as much as federal ones. If Justice Moore is violating the Constitution by the display of the Ten Comandments, what are Congress and the US Supreme Court doing? The latter opens with a prayer, The building of the latter depicts Moses, the "lawgiver" who brought the very same commandments down from the mountain, on it's East Pediment (Warning PDF file)

Similarly, the Congress, the state legislatures and the military, as well as many police and fire departments have official chaplins. Are these also violating the Constitution?
