Regarding California - Enron wanted to open up a wind farm in Gorman, CA and was stopped by environmental protests (namely the Audubon Society) who were concerned about birds in the "windmills". Wind farms have also been halted in Tehachapi among other places ("It's for the birds"). So much for alternative energy.

You're right - even when we are willing to support such efforts, the environmentalists just find another reason why that won't work either.

The point is - THEY DON'T WANT A SOLUTION! THEY WANT THE ISSUE! If more people just understood that - they would stop appeasing these people and DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR THE COUNTRY AND NOT A BUNCH OF ENVIRONMENTAL WHACKOS!!
