Check out this link to see a large spike in the Ontario spot electricity price at 3pm EST yesterday in advance of the blackout:

I haven't heard any reporting about the energy markets at the time of the blackout. Looks like price gouging was happening.
Just like what happened with shorting airline stocks by day trader Al Quida dudes just before 9/11....
