Does that happen? I would think the cars would keep going until they made it to a flat area.
Yes it does. I probably have seen a half dozen media reports through the last 20 years where roller coaster cars get stuck at the top of the loop.
But of course the media will portray that happening as a major disaster and a call to ban roller coasters.
