Another reason for the nervousness in some is that the drip, drip, drip of liberal/Dem contenders for President saying we are vulnerable has eroded their confidence in our security systems. Well it's the liberal/dems fault this happened. President Bush tried to tell them when he first came to office that our grid system was in trouble. They voted it down. The entire energy package was voted down when the dems were in control of the senate.
Maybe NOW we can get an energy package passed. People who won't listen have to learn the hard way.

I agree. For so many years the enviros have led Congress, Politicos by the nose (being polite) with their pressure groups and now we are all paying coast to coast. No drilling in Anwar, no offshore drilling, no exploration - just stop using our SUV'S, stop living in this century.
Perhaps the GOP will get smart and use some of today's pictures and pound this message home - we need to be energy self-sufficient.

well, that and exporting your pollution out of state/country....this can happen just as easily on the west coast, but the effects would be less because more people drive, commuter rail runs on diesel not electricity, etc.

President Bush tried to tell them when he first came to office that our grid system was in trouble. They voted it down.. President Bush DID tell them our grid system was antiquated, on perpetual overload and primed for collapse. And, he offered a plan to fix it.
The liberal elites heard what the President said...but wanted Congressional hearings to uncover WHO told him this unspeakable truth---not Congressional action to prevent what's happened tonight!!!
