I see the point you are making now. If ID is a scientific theory and not a religion, then one does not have the right to be offended about jokes made about the designer (small d).
I withdraw my original complaint about the designer joke... it was wrong of ME to get offended... although it still was not entirely tactful/tasteful... sigh... "why can't we all just get along?"
