I don't remember. (Mirrors and canes sounds a bit like the Marx Brothers.)

Both Turner Classic and Encore Mystery channels run some film noir now and then. Lucille Ball was good in "Dark Corner." Mysteries are fun to watch just to see how people dressed in those days. (Not the period pieces, but the contemporary mysteries.) "The Thin Man" dates from 1934, for example.

The Lady from Shanghai, a great movie. With Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth; the guy with the two canes was Everett Sloane (sp?).
