12 days; he obviously wasn't a tiny premie. In my experience, the little ones who nurse first, and are offered the breast instead of the bottle (they usually start out at one nipple feeding a day) have a much better chance of successfully nursing than those that get used to sucking from the bottle.
Furthermore, after a certain amount of time pumping, most mothers begin to lose their milk supply. Nursing helps in this regard.
