Ignite charcoal. Add one bucket of liquid oxygen. Zero to 'ready to cook' in 3 seconds.

Purdue engineers; a fellow named George Gobel (no kidding). The university yanked his website which had much more material, including sound and video.

Honestly, I don´t know... I didn´t picture Germans to be popular abroad. In the survey they said this is due to the fact that they at least try to learn some of the language of the country they are in (sth. the Brits don´t care about for instance).

If you ask me - I assume that Brits as well as Germans are quite unpopular abroad and are only welcome for their money.

Brits are popular everywhere because - though we may be as arrogant as the Germans - we don't steal deckchairs.

Just believe me - you are NOT popular. I have to damit, the deckchair thing is really embarassing - it is "typical German." But those Germans with a sense of decency (and that´s more than you might think) find it embarassing as well (me for instance).

Now, I´ve heard that the deckchair thing is not a Germans only thing and that the Brits do the same, aka "The Battle of the sunbeds". I am not "accusing" you, I am just wondering if this is true?

We did not start the Battle of the Sunbeds. I believe the Germans invaded Benidorm.

hahaha!

very funny.

But as a matter of fact, your suspicions are correct. Please tell me how on earth you were able to deduce this from my post?

Obviously, if you are accustomed to A/C, and then are suddenly forced to do without, your body won't be able to cope. You have to adjust gradually as the seasons change....in otherwords, never turn on the A/C.

Right now, If it gets down below 75 degrees F in my bedroom, I need a blanket. That's NOT an exaggeration. Without a blanket, I can sleep quite comfortably up to 85. Above 85, I need to turn a fan on.

It is more than being accustomed to a/c. I don't perspire. I do slightly when I first begin to get warm but then it shuts down & I am completely dry. Thats when it gets bad & dangerous. I have not had a heat stroke but I have come very close. My mother was the same.

so now in the same article and given equal attention are two stories about a woman in critical condition and a story about suffering pigs....

if we ever wonder what happened to the sanctity and specialness of the human race, we can think back to these days when a human's life means about as much as an animal's.

The Germans and the French both have no understanding of heat. They all sit around and drink more wine or beer if they get dehydrated...which leads to more dehydration and eventually you are too drunk to realize that you have major problems...and then you need serious help. AC is not an option because its rarely up to 100 degrees in this region. If you get a really hot summer...its usually around 92 for 3 weeks of the summer. Putting ice in your drinks is another thing that none of these idiots do. They all want barely cool drinks. If this becomes a yearly event...then I can see major problems coming up.

I've noticed that alot of people are like that...they don't seem to sweat much. I am completely the opposite. It runs off me in rivers. I used to get alot of harrassment because of it. People would ask if I was drunk or if I'd been drinking beer all day or if I was on some kind of drugs or something....nope, it's just the way I'm made. I get sweat stains under my arms in the winter. If its a hundred outside, I can totally soak my shirt to the skin in 10 minutes just sitting still. My upper lip, nose and brow will bead up just from thinking hard while sitting at a desk in an air conditioned office.

Maybe I have an unfair advantage because of my enhanced capacity for perspiration. But, on the other hand, there is a drawback. Perspiring like I do is only an advantage PROVIDED there is a virtually unlimited supply of drinking water close at hand. If I had to walk accross a desert without provisions to the nearest water hole, I'd be delerious from dehydration in under an hour. I wouldn't have a chance.

That's odd. The brittish have even a milder climate but traditionally, the english have been known for their seemingly unnatural ability to withstand desert heat. Back in the heyday of the brittish empire, everyone seemed to beleive the brits had some inborn advantage in this regard. They'd be out marching in full uniform when everyone else was hiding out in the shade trying not to pass out.

You & Algore have something in common, remember his "flop sweats" during the debates? I'm just joking I didn't mean to be insulting. Yes I see sweating as an advantage. It cools you down like being sprayed with water which I do to myself when I am outdoors in the heat. I can no more make myself sweat than you can make yourself stop. Lets both stay out of the desert OK?
