A skull belonging to a 'mystery ape,' on the left, is placed next to a chimpazee skull for comparison. Researchers say the mystery ape is much more 'flat-faced' and substantially bigger.

"It doesn't look much like a gorilla, it doesn't look like a chimpanzee," said primatologist Shelly Williams, who captured a bit of video of the female mystery ape with a baby.
Is this Bigfoot?

NO!!!!! The video tape this shot came from was proven to be a fake. In fact, the son of the perpetrator confessed. It was meant as a joke and took on a life of its own. There has never been any conclusive evidence of Bigfoot.

And the mystery apes hoot when the moon rises and sets, something chimps don't do for fear of attracting lions and hyenas, Williams said. So what could this animal be?

There has never been any conclusive evidence of Bigfoot.
True, but that does not mean that they don't exist. This article is proof that we haven't classified all species of animals that roam this earth, nor are we aware of them all. I'd say that there are better odds that Bigfoot exists.

INTERESTING:

____

The skull in the fellow's right hand looks very similar to the left one in the color photo to me. (Though it has been 25 years since my B. A. in Anthropology.)

"We compared fecal samples from this unknown animal to the DNA of captive gorillas, bonobos, and chimps," Louis said. "Our preliminary data shows that the mitochondrial DNA is chimp-like." But mitochondrial DNA is passed down only from the mother's side. So if this species or sub-species is a hybrid of a chimp mother and a gorilla father, current DNA would only identify information from the mother. Wow. What an awful thing to say. Fecal DNA shows only female characteristics. Well, I never!

Either that or the
Chimpanzee pan troglodytes
They both have pretty flat faces.

On the website, if you click the photo and see it larger, the one the man is holding seems to have a more protruding mouth area than the other photo. The mouth area on the new ape is very flat. The area around the eyes looks like it rises higher on top and protrudes further out on the one the man is holding too. If you look closely at the one the man is holding, his thumb is in the nasal cavity, which looks almost horizontal. The face of on the skull of the new ape looks much flatter overall and the eye holes look smaller.
