LOS ANGELES — Deputy Stephen Sorensen, who was killed while answering a trespassing call, was in a feud with the Lake Los Angeles Rural Town Council that was so acrimonious he feared for his safety, it was reported today.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Capt. Carl Deeley told the Los Angeles Times that the dispute, Sorensen alleged council members spread rumors that he belonged to a hate group and that he extorted money from merchants, was one of the first things detectives investigated after his slaying on Saturday.

But investigators said the hostility between Sorensen and three Town Council members was probably unrelated to the killing of the 46 year-old deputy in a remote area east of Palmdale, Deeley told The Times.

quick heads up

Last Saturday, freeper Lainie posted a thread about a policeman who was killed, and the suspect got away with his weapon and his radio. Lainie kept us updated through the night as they looked for the bad guy.

Today they apparently found him, and have him surrounded, but it is not resolved yet.

Lainie and her husband have been kind enough to stream the scanner traffic so we can all follow it in real time. The suspect was just on the radio trying to talk to the cops.
