Isn't that just special. The Anglican church was created by King Henry VIII because the Vactican would not let him divorce his wife with an anullment. So Henry set up his own pope and split the Church of England from the Roman Chatholic Church, dicorved his wife and than murdered her. Now this same Epischapol/Anglican church allows gay priests and now a gay bishop. Anarchy created the Anglican church with a corrupt leader and the English cardninals did not stand up to defend the faith under fear from English monarchs. This leaderless church now openly goes against the gospel and allows sinful and evil men to run their church.

This gay bishop is still married in the eyes of God. He left his wife to follow his sinful and lustful and immoral passions to live as a homosexual and remained a priest in the Anglican church and is now ordained as a bishop? What is wrong with these people? It is the work of satan to allow this under the guise of tolerance of sin and lust. I pray that Michael the arch Angel helps and imploys his sword to cut off and separate the corrupt members of this church from the body of Christ and let this unfruitful and infected vine wither and die. I am sure the Catholic church would gladly accept the faithful Anglicans into the fold again to rejoin the unviversal Church of Christ.

Episcopalians now trot through their annual ritual of hand-wringing over gay priests. Canada now recognizes same-sex marriages. Not to be outdone by our fair-weather friends to the North, the White House Press Corps' hammered Mr. Bush on our Puritanical aversion. The president of the United States, in a Twilight Zone moment for me, had to clarify that marriage is for a man and a woman. The Vatican echoed the Bush doctrine on marriage.

I am a Lutheran (ELCA) and am looking seriously at the Missouri Synod. I fear the ELCA will be the next target of the queers.

Dear A. Mother,

I saw your post about organizing orthodox anglicans on the FR site. Good idea; maybe we could form a Yahoo club. It's pretty easy to do.

I am a vestryman at an orthodox parish in Nashville. Our bishop, Bertram Herlong, voted against Robinson, and stood with the bishop of Pittsburgh when he deilverd his powerful Transfiguration Day homily (have you read this homily? I can send you a copy). A few years ago, bishop Herlong stopped our rector from joining Forward in Faith. I have a feeling that he won't stop us now. Our rector has called a vestry meeting for this Sunday; he will ask the vestry to have the parish join Forward in Faith, change our signage and substitute "Anglican" for "Episcopal", and withhold our money from ECUSA and send it to bishop Herlong instead.

Other places to look on the net include David Virtue's web site and the American Anglican Council and its affiliated "A Place to Stand."

BTW, I read how the bishop of Atlanta voted. I was pleased, but surprised, that all three bishops in Tennesse voted the orthodox way. Clergy and lay deputies were divided. There could be some interesting battles with heretical parishes if bishop Herlong continues to pursue an othodox path.

I was depressed and angry Wednesday night when this happened. I am more ready to fight now.

Actually, that is just the kind of thing that the religion forum is set up for.

Certainly the religion forum is set up for discussing religion issues. Normally, threads are centered around a particular published article, rather than a general discussion of a particular topic. Granted sometimes the former evolves into the latter, but I view a general discussion thread similar to a vanity thread and thought, as a courtesy, it would be good to ask permission first, rather than post one up and have it blocked or moved somewhere else.

Check out the Anglican Mission in America. This is a network of churches in the US that are still aprt of the Anglican COmmunion, but are outposts of the (Anglican) Church of Rwanda as opposed to being part of the ECUSA. Most of thes AMIA churches were Episcopal until a few years ago, when they broke from the ECUSA but stayed within the Anglican Communion be affiliating with the Church of Rwanda via the AMIA.

Never hurts to ask. I know the Catholics have a regular thread going and there is also a regular prayer thread as well. This issue is of concern in terms of news and politics as well as religion and is likely to be for some time. I feel quite sure it is appropriate to have a thread to address this and related issues. Actually, I imagine Jim and the mods would prefer that rather than having us filling the news forum with article after article dealing with it, although there will be some I'm sure.

Oh, also, "knak" is Episcopalian.
