My entire rant is beautiful. Much like this one from Ronald Reagan
Ive spoken of the shining city all my political life, but I dont know if I ever quite communicated what I saw when I said it. But in my mind it was a tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, windswept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and heart to get there. Thats how I saw it, and see it still.

While I don't agree with Tancredo Fan's rantings against Reagan, I think you're misrepresenting his positions a little bit. The "shining city on the hill" was in reference to legal immigrants, not anyone who could crawl across the border in the middle of the night. You might have also forgotton these quotes by Reagan:
"This country has lost control of its borders..."
"A country that doesn't control its borders isn't a country anymore."
The 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli amnesty bill that Reagan unfortunately signed contained strong enforcement mechanisms such as employer sanctions against illegal immigration as well as the hiring of 5000 additional border patrol guards. The employer sanctions have yet to be taken seriously, which is the fault of subsequent administrations.
Reagan was clearly against illegal immigration, as we all should be, it's against the law and a crime.
