Prayers on the way.
Though not completely sure, am sending this reply to "all" in hopes that all posters on this thread read it.
The operation went more quickly than expected, in about half the time. Afterwards, the Neurosurgeon spoke with us, providing an update on his condition, as well as reassuring us about how resilient children are, especially newborns. His prospects look great.
Andrew has a small, shaved area on his head where the incision was made to reset the bone and remove the blood, otherwise you would never notice. His appetite is a healthy, 2 ounces every 3 hours, take-a-nap and explore his world in-between thing now, and it feels like he's going to be a lefty just like his dad. He's scheduled for another catscan today, and Lord willing, he'll be home this Saturday.
I must tell you all what a reassurance of faith and strength I recieve from all your prayers and kind words. Last night, when we returned from the hospital, I read through your responses. How to describe my feeling? It is - instead of sitting in front of a computer screen, more like having a gentle light come over us. It was the same sensation, and an extension of, our experience with the Neurosurgeon and NICU staff charged with the care of our son.
These kind and gentle souls; wonderful people in the service of their fellow man -- to be in their presence as they go about their assignments was to feel goodness incarnate. As anyone who has gone to sunday school can remember those lessons about Agape love - the love that transcends all, and that is from soul to soul - this is what Andrew has been surrounded with from the NICU personnel... and this same strength has come through in your prayer responses here on the Freep.
We'll be with Andrew later today, and I'll tell him about these things, and about you. I'll keep you all posted.
Thank you,
CGVet58 Juan Rosario (Lieutenant-jg, United States Coast Guard retired)
PS: Andrew was born on a Coast Guard day, to a Coast Guard Vet. I like the connectivity... the son of a son of the Lifesaving Service, protected and immersed in prayers of followers of the Son of Man.
