CALLING ALL Arnold Schwarzenegger Supporters:

I am announcing the creation of ArnoldGovernor.net . I have reserved the domain, but the site is up right now at a temporary URL which can be seen here (www.elephantparty.com). I am a Californian and a conservative - and I can say with certainty that Arnold represents the best chance we have of claiming California's governorship. I am posting this site for your review.

First, the others in the race. Bill Simon and Tom McClintock are both fine men, but they have lost important statewide races in the past. Simon lost a race against Davis last year which should have been a cakewalk given Davis' record. Most political analysts agree that Simon ran one of the worst campaigns in recent memory. McClintock is a virtual unknown statewide (let's not get fooled by our own echo chamber). The KEY to remember is that we have

Only 2 months (8 weeks) until Election Day. There is NO time to run someone who Californians have rejected in the past or a virtual unknown. For those who have leaned towards either of them, I'm appealing to your sense of reason to get behind someone with the best shot of winning. Now, why should we elect Arnold?

Arnold is a fiscal conservative but moderate otherwise. His stance on abortion will matter less than you might think- that's a matter for Supreme Court justices which the California governor has no say about. He is pro-business, pro-entrepreneurship, and tough on crime (witness his Proposition 49 which aims to reduce juvenille crime - a major, largely unaddressed component of crime). He is an "American by choice" and is very patriotic. People look at him and think "It's okay to be a Republican". With Schwarzenegger pulling a Total Recall on Grey Davis, Bush may actually find that California is friendly territory in 2004.

I am looking for pro-Arnold supporters to help:

1. Pitching Arnold's candidacy

2. Graphics design- create compelling visuals that are pro-Arnold or anti-Davis

3. Anyone else that wants to be pinged for pro-Arnold events.

4. Coming up with good one liners, spin, updates, opposition research, etc.

Let's team up! Thanks!!

Once I get your suggestions, I will update the site and in a few days, it will be at ArnoldGovernor.net . Thanks all Freepers for your help.

Sorry, I can't accept your epithet of "defeatist". My candidate is going to win (Arnold). Your is going to lose, just like he's lost in statewide races in the past.

Yeah, but what will you have won, except more statist socialist government policy? A victory for the Left.

Sounds like a defeat to me.

You just go right ahead and campaign for your abortion-loving, Bill of Rights trampling, gay-marriage and adoption promoting Leftist candidates, and I will go on campaigning for conservatives.

But face the fact that you, whether you will face the fact or not, are objectively a Leftist.

Yeah, I take it back. You're not a defeatist. That label only belongs to real conservatives who are surrendering because they think we can't win.

You are no conservative, so you don't qualify.

"Back McClintock, that's your choice, but he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. He's not even a blip on the radar screen."

Yeah, just better to sell out, right ?

"I completely agree that he's soft on a couple of key issues, but my opinion on the matter doesn't matter either."

A couple ?!? On what issues does he remotely agree with the Republican platform ?!

"He might be the next governor, or a democrat will be the next governor."

If one embraces every 'Rat position from abortion to expansion of government, does that not make them a 'Rat ? Ah-nold's a 'Rat. I support Republicans who don't endorse the entirety of the 'Rat agenda. If CA wants a 'Rat, let 'em vote for one who has the courage to embrace the "D" letter, courage Ah-nold lacks.

"and we need someone to fix up the fiscal mess that this state is in."

And voting for someone who will expand state government beyond the 'Rats wildest dreams as Ah-nold will will fix the mess how again ?

Keep lobbing bombs- it'll get you nowhere. And frankly I don't need you to validate my conservatism.

"To be honest, I can't bet on a dog in this race as I live in Tennessee, but I'm not averse to providing modest financial and verbal support. Right now, I'm withholding that support. C'mon, Arnold, back off on the gun issue. Its all the citizens have left."

And as a fellow Tennessean, you ought to know better than to even think about considering urging support for this RINO after 8 years of Scumquist.

"The term "RINO" is best applied to purists who want to lose a race to Democrats by failing to support the clear frontrunner- Arnold Schwarzenegger."

Wrong. The term "RINO" is best applied to a candidate who embraces every single solitary major position of the 'Rats while having the brass cajones to run as a Republican. Ah-nold is for whom this term so perfectly fits.

The term is only overused when misapplied. Some folks around here call Senators and Congressman with 90% ACU ratings as RINOs and that doesn't pass the smell test. But when a candidate resembles Judas Jim Jeffords as Ah-nold does, RINO isn't an inappropriate term, it's the ONLY term that best describes them.

"Yeah, so Arnold's an uber-liberal because his dad was a Nazi? Give us a break."

Do you not think this is an issue ? I don't think a lot of the electorate knows this and it certainly will be an issue. But that's just one other bad point about the man.

"Arnold will be California's next Governor because he is the GOP's best shot of re-emerging in the union's most populous state."

Correction, it'll be the death knell of the GOP selling its soul for a few pieces of silver.

"Sorry Field. It's a done deal. Arnold WILL be the next Governor of California. The CA GOP has to resemble the NY GOP if we want to be competitive here."

Then the party deserves to die ! The NY GOP is a national embarrassment -- chock-full of RINOs who get a sexual high off of expanding government, wreaking havoc with the state budget, a group that has a Devil's Agreement with the 'Rats that they will never attempt to contest their control of the State Assembly, who are their equals in every sleazy way. These cretins crush all independent-thinkers who attempt to win office and halt their "business as usual" attitude. I'm sickened that you would want to have the CA GOP embrace that closed-off and corrupt NY GOP establishment style. That, sir, is an endorsement of tyranny, not an endorsement of freedom.

"Those who want more conservative results can't just "will it to be" on election day...they have to do the harder work of changing hearts and minds of ordinary Californians between elections."

And you ain't gonna get that emulating NY.

Dude, you're endorsing a leftist RINO, enthusiastically I might add, and then you drop a turd in the punchbowl by stating that the CA GOP ought to mimic one of the most disgracefully statist state parties in the nation in NY which openly tells people that they're not welcome to participate in politics unless they follow the local boss's orders to the letter and you wonder why people are challenging your credentials on Conservatism ?

Come back to us before it's too late, you're too smart to fall for this nonsense.

"The NY setup really sucks, doesn't it..."

Ain't that the truth. The party is actually eroding at the Congressional level despite having a Governor and State Senate and its majority in the latter is based precariously on a stack of cards. In NY, it ain't about ideology, but patronage, and as a result, the whole state resembles the old Soviet Union in that regard. Whole parties sell out on patronage and cut deals with each other over it so as not to infringe on the others' turf. For any serious-minded person to want to emulate this system anywhere else, one that discourages ethics, open-government and participation by the people, they are clearly uninterested in a "free republic."

Oh I know. I ran a presidential primary campaign up there, and the cards were all completely stacked.

Not sure how to crack that nut and change things. The only thing I can think of is a mass uprising of the GOP electorate demanding reform of the process.

That would require some real leadership from some key people to make that happen.

" RINO isn't an inappropriate term, it's the ONLY term that best describes them."

It also provides an all-encompassing excuse when you throw an election into a Dim's waiting hands.

Simon lost? Those damned RINOs sabotaged him! Candidate didn't win? It was because HE was a RINO! Didn't ge EVERYTHING you wanted in the first week of a new administration? Those RINOs are dragging their feet!

Convinient scapegoat. I guess it's more real-sounding than "space aliens", but it's getting close...
