Look I totally agree with you, but let me try and explain.

It all started with this Yale "scholar" named John Boswell. He essentially tried to desconstruct the scripture to accomodate homosexual unions.

Here's an excellent refutation of Boswell's and other's arguments. About 7 years some conservative Bishops "presented" a Bishop named Walter Righter. This essentially means he was charged with heresy for ordaining an open homosexual. They actually managed to get him to trial. Unfortunately the Ecclesiastical Court was packed with revisionist liberals and only one court member - Andy Fairfield of North Dakota - voted to sustain the charges.

This link gives a pretty refutation of the common revisionist arguments for desconstructing scripture.

A Time of Trial There are several chapters in links. It's fairly long. It's also worth reading Jerry Satinover, Mario Berger and Peter Moore's treatment of this.

The following year, Frank Griswold a flaming liberal, was narrowly elected Presiding Bishop and things really started to accelerate.
