Although much LNG will come from Trinidad-Tobago, offshore West Africa, Indonesia and Algeria (possibly Russia), LNG could be huge from the middle east. An inconvenient little factoid for the enviros to contemplate.

Another inconvenient factoid (ok, two), dependence on those areas of the world. Dependence breeds obligation. not only is LNG the most expensive form of fuel, but as we depend on warring nations and volatile regions of the world for this product we will be obligated to pay tribute to kleptocracies through military and financial support. of course these won't be factored into the cost you pay for the fuel, but will appear on your 1040 each April.

True enough, with the exception of Trinidad, the places I mentioned don't exactly love America.

Industry standards are currently locked by the engineering involved in $4.00 per mcf for LNG to be feasible....hardly a bargin basement solution.

Not to mention the terrorist target those facilities will become. Estimates of a shoulder fired missile into an LNG tank are that a small thermo-nuclear type expolsion would be the result.
