Just as I suspected, you have misinterpreted and oversimplified his remarks. Nowhere in the essay does Hanson state that "Serbia is a threat to the US." His overall argument for preemption and unilateralism is never exclusively tied to Serbia, and needs to be understood according to its aim, i.e., to justify the at the time looming war with Iraq.
Mind-numbed Robot is absolutely correct. You are "nit-picking, taking him out of context, and issue shopping."

My opinion is that he brings little to the table on current national security issues because he supported the Serbian and Kosovo war, and even hints that Serbia posed a threat. That rather sloppy reasoning puts his entire commentary under the light that he supports any war any time, regardless of merit.
Go on reading his articles, I have no intention of stopping you. Now that you have safely turned yourself off to independent thinking, I am sure you will enjoy his marvelous prose that much more.
