“The study is "fundamentally unsound," testified Michael Mann, University of Virginia environmental sciences professor and a lead author of the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Third Assessment Report.” A World Domination Trade Association.

Some media reports, in particular by Cox News Service, have also found the Soon and Baliunas research was underwritten by the American Petroleum Institution - an industry trade association

Don’t pay attention to the study funded by a trade guild interested in making a buck, when we have access to a study from an organization with the nobler goal of ruling the world.

Makes sense that the American Petroleum Institutions members have some interest in remaining in the peoples’ good graces, though many will doubt the institute’s understanding of market based solutions. The U.N. has no intent, or interest in the American People’s graces so by all means, they are the ruling authority we should trust, in all matters concerning our daily lives.

Very nice, very thoughtful post. Here's my favorite quote from the article:

Inhofe said today's hearing was an attempt to hone in on "sound science" as the Senate considers the implications of climate change. "It is no secret that we are not scientists up here, so we look at things logically," he said.

"It's the sun..."

Mainstream grant-sucking scientists remind me of Swift's Laputans.

They are a caricature of themselves.

I'm still waiting for the "ice age" these same scientists predicted back in the 70s.

Natural variability is a large factor in climate change, Mann said, but it can not explain the warming of the past two decades.

Maybe the last two decades are the recovery from the 'ice age' of a couple of cold winters when Jimmy Carter had us all wearing sweaters. ;-)

And two decades is more like weather than climate.
