The current Democratic campaign has the following effects from my perspective:
- Slightly improves Rockefeller's image as honest. Since I don't know much about him.
- Doesn't help Clinton. He needs a million such reasonable statements to overcome his past.
- Confirms the other democrats as mean hearted dishonest lying weasels.
Since Hillary continued to bash Bush not taking advantage. But Rockefeller is one of the few that are backing off and pronouncing reasonable statements, could this mean that the Clintons are backing Rockefeller? and that the set up was for Rockefeller's benefit? Is he from New York? Can he afford to buy the Clintons?

Clinton doesn't need help for himself. The only dog he has in this race is Hillary. Hillary hasn't exactly been outspoken on the WMD. She has called for more investigation into the STOU statement though, while her husband has stated that those things happen all the time. That way they get to claim both sides of the issue.
Rockefeller is probably just not a part of the ultra-leftwing of the party and doesn't enjoy making himself look like an idiot for their benefit.
