committed to doing for the South what the Allies would do for Germany and Japan after World War II. After WW II the Allies were assisting nations whose infrastructure had been devastated. The last rebel state left by the Union was Texas. Texas suffered no appreciable infrastructure devastation. They must have been there for some other reason.
