Sure, she could be lying ... But what I can't figure out is why would she? I mean if she were after money, it would have been much more simple to blackmail him instead of rushing to the police. (After all, he did at least commit adultry and she could have just as easily have sullied his spotless reputation by claiming concentual sex) ... No, this smacks too much of a "Vanessa Washington" situation (Mike Tyson's victim)

But she wouldn't have gotten any money. And, who would believe her? Not everybody believes her, even now

Tyson was notorious. He beat up Robin Givens, his own wife. It was easy to attribute rape to him, though I didn't follow that case very closely.

Here's a possible scenario: She has consensual sex with Bryant, things get a little out of hand and a little rough.

She gets scared, goes home tells her mother what happened, and her mother tells her she's been raped (she had to be TOLD she was raped, according to Luke Bray).

Now, the evidence may prove that he's guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt.

But, by the time the trial comes around, her reputation will be destroyed.
