I actually watched more coverage of Shoshanna Johnson than I did of Jessica.
You apparently just missed all of it.

As a matter of fact, Shoshanna Johnson (to which your fondly refer as "the chubby, black female POW")I guess what you missed, Carolina, is that by stating that Shoshanna is chubby...I was making the point that she doesn't fit into the media's story making recipe.
To: Destro
Yup. She got a Bronze Star for getting shot and being taken prisoner.

"Lynch Receives Bronze Star Before Homecoming (What for?!!)"
how about she survived and until other information comes out she did it with honor. Sounds like bronze star material to me.

Unfortunately Bronze Stars have become GEEDUNK medals much to the dismay of those that EARNED them in Vietnam and PREVIOUS wars. However this is NOT to say that I KNOW WHY she received one, I will make no judgement on that until I have the facts.

If she got a Bronze I demand my MOH!!!

I believe the words were 'most likely raped,' but you can check that out if you would like.
The Iraqi soldiers tended to rape all female captives.
She still can't walk, Destro. I was serious when I asked if you want to trade places with her so you can get the medal that you don't think......or should I say FEEL like she deserves. Your thought process doesn't seem to be functioning very well.

I actually watched more coverage of Shoshanna Johnson than I did of Jessica. The fact that you have watched more coverage of Shoshanna does not mean that she has received more attention then Jessica. The media has clearly given more air time to Jessica than any other POW.

The Medal of Honor is coming soon. Oh please. Aren't there cases where entire units got Bronze Stars?

It seems I also qualify for the Bronze Star. I can sit in a Humvee with the best of them. I know quite a few Bronze Star recipients, a couple of Silver Star recipients and one Medal of Honor recipient. One each of the Bronze and Silver Star recipients were awarded with "V" device.
I received none of the above, although I feel I've been well rewarded for my service.
You Sir, are an ass. That's all the reward you are deserving.

I know a guy who fell out of his chair and gashed his head
while serving aboard a minesweeper.
The ship was right off shore in Vietnam. He was recommended for and received a Purple Heart.

Too bad you didn't see the coverage that a lot of us saw.

I'm not arguing with the over-coverage of Jessica. I'm just questioning your assumption that it was Shoshanna's weight that kept her from being covered, and the general implication from you and others the fact she was awarded medals is in any way related to the media.
IMO, she suffered bravely because she was an American soldier captured by a brutal enemy, and she deserves to be awarded these medals.
I don't care if she's a girl, or if she's cute. It doesn't diminish what she endured in service to her country.

If anyone fought in that manner then yes, they should get a medal.
But I stand by my comment about a court martial for those responsible for the screw-up
To: Destro
They said she was stabbed and shot and she wasn't"They" as you have demonstrated, being the Washington Post.
