That's not my decision to make Nor of course is it mine to make. But a lot of effort went into saying you have no idea why she got the medal either.....

Where did you hear that! I understood that she emptied her gun.If I'm not mistaken, that story was retracted long ago.
To: Destro
Only because your problem is with
her getting the medal. You aren't harping on the others who received the medal in the same or lesser circumstance. You're trying to say she doesn't deserve the medal when you aren't the one who gets to decide in the first place. Do you have a Bronze Star? That's a legitimate question and I understand why you won't answer it. If the Army says she earned her medal- guess what? She earned it. If they awarded the same medal to other people in her unit for similar circumstance- guess what? Your argument is deep sixed all together.
We can stick a fork in you because you're done.

No, you don't have the reading comprehenison down..the key word in the sentence is
Honorable service while suffering imprisonment....
Service, according to Websters means a "helpful act". What "helpful act" did she perform?

Fair is fair, they are not in the news like she is either. Oh, I forgot about the clause that says you don't earn your medal if you're in the news. Do you have a Bronze Star? I will ask this in every subsequent post, don't worry.

Likewise, congratulations on your entry into the "Mile-Wide, Loose as a Goose"club! Are you also in the "carpenter's dream" and "tons of fun"club?
To: Destro
BWAHAHAHAHAHA You've now crossed the line to complete idiocy.
"Service" is service in the military, dip. Her "helpful act" was volunteering to wear the uniform and perform the duties that implies.
Because I know where you're going to drunkenly stumble next I'll jump ahead:
Honorable means she performed her service well enough to not get kicked out.
Nothing terribly dificult about this, if she gets a DD214 on her way out the door it means she honorably served.

I really believe the "she emptied her gun" and the whole Rambette thing has been entirely debunked.
She may very well be entitled to the Bronze Star, however - at least by the standards that exist today. (The bar is much, much lower than it was in WWII, as far as I can tell.)
To: discostu
Wow--I guess they hand out the medals when you join the service if that is the definition going..

Do you have a Bronze Star?

Are you saying the Army awarded PFC Lynch her Bronze Star illegally?
Do you have a Bronze Star?
To: Destro
So far you've been conveniently ignoring the requests for you to list the medals on your chest. We're still waiting.
Thanks for creating one of the most embarrasing threads in FR history. You must also be running the threads over at DU. Your opinion of Pvt. Lynch is theirs too, in spades.
What have you got against her, anyway? Looks like most if not all of the rest of her group got the same or higher awards, yet you aren't harping on those. You want to take away the silver stars that the others got too?

Let's go over the quote again:
Honorable service while suffering imprisonment by enemy forces is almost always recognized by an award of the Bronze Star or a higher award.
Notice how it STARTS with honorable service, then you have an adition clause of "while suffering imprisonment by enemy forces". See how that works. Basically anybody that gets captured but doesn't behave in such a way that would get them a dishonorable discharge gets one. It's just a Bronze Star after all, did you actually read what ANYBODY here has told you? Don't answer that, I already know. You're pissed off at Lynch and you're not going to let a little thing like facts get in the way of your heinous act of denigrating this woman who has clearly demonstrated that she is and always will be a better person than you.
