S&W has changed ownership since we had the 2nd ammendment problems with the former Brit ownership. There is no reason not to buy S&W. Their quality is up and they are now under heavy pro-2nd ownership.
I personally have a Sig and perfer them, but there is nothing really wrong with the S&W's.

My next purchase will be a Sig, probably in .40.
I own two Glocks, a 9mm and .40. The .40 jammed tight on about the 20th round at the range. A smith in St. Paul solved this problem and also lightened the trigger from an grabby 8 pounds down to 3-4 pound pull.
