The film features an excessive amount of profanity by senior officers, suggestive sex [oral sex in bed, sex in a car, sex in a swimming pool], theft of government property, and rampant drug use by soldiers.
if we don't show things as they really happen, then what's that about? Censorship!"

What a crock of sh!t.

Haven't we come along way from when the Mouse supported our efforts in WWII.

Speaking from personal experience, there are indeed folks like those described in this article within the US Army and other military branches. Then again, the folks I knew who are/were like this were quietly given the boot and are no longer in the military. They were never prosecuted. I don't see why anyone would want to go see a movie about such people unless, of course, the good guys within the military expose the derelicts in the end. There are many good guys in the military. And then there are others.

Just another example of the moral bankruptcy of this organization, living off of the momentum of their past foundation in the principles of truth and virtue, while stuggling to maintain their smothering stranglehold on American pop culture. We don't spend a dime on anything even remotely connected to Disney in our household, for reasons such as this, and educate and encourage or family and friends to do the same.

Don't get me started on their over-rated, over-priced, and over-crowded parks, the dissatisfied "guests," with empty wallets, running from ride to ride desperately trying to convince themselves they are having fun, being ambushed by Disney sponsered PC thuggery such as "Gay Days." Movies like this are just another example of Disney's covert "progressive" social activism.

Ultimately, they only understand this one thing, their bottom line. Not a dime more from us.

"I thought, This is not the time to be putting this movie out. If we leave it a couple of months, the war'll be over and off all the front pages. Then we'll go." But the money shouldn't offend anyone..right?

Well, this could be a $15 million loser for Miramax/Disney, or a money maker - in perhaps "Old Europe" where anti-Americanism is profitable politically and economically.

If it's a loser, teaches them a lesson. If it's a money maker in Europe, that brings $$$ out of Europe to the US.

That's a win-win.

If it makes money here, shame on us.

Where are Jesse Jackson and the NAACP now!? Huh?

Anyone with even an ounce of common sense of history knows of the nobility and patriotism of the black buffalo soldiers of old. And how that particular platoon lives on in today's US Army, with a recent deployment to Iraq.

The one time that Jesse Jackson SHOULD be raising his voice, he's silent.

Is it because he's in bed with Disney? Is it because the NAACP receives significant money from Disney?

When you think the notion of "Hollyweird" could sink no lower...

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

The military was getting too popular with the American people you see? They had to be busted down a couple of notches. Else we might derail Mr Marx's plans.

Actor Phoenix explains, "I don't know why anyone would be offended. It wasn't a movie that was intended to offend. And if we don't show things as they really happen, then what's that about? Censorship!"

Apparently following in his illustrious older brother's footsteps, at least in attitude. S**t, why would anyone be offended by a movie that depicts tne military as a dishonest gang of sleazy drugtaking thieves? I guess sleazy drugtaking thieves wouldn't.

The moral relativist leftists who rule the media want to subvert and pervert everything that is honorable and decent. This is just another example.

They could have shown ALL of these things in a movie about Bubba Clinton but they chose not to make that exploitive "tell all" movie. We were told that it was none of our business, it's just (rape) sex; his brother's own quote that Bill had a nose like a vaccuum cleaner was considered less reliable than some Star Trek biographer's book on George W. Bush. These people don't care about sex or drugs or theft. Rats lie. This is nothing but a stab at middle America.

Warts and all. I wonder if Hollywood has looked in the mirror lately. Airbrushing and frosted lenses can make it appear that actors have no blemishes but they (and we) know the truth.

By changing this -

The film features an excessive amount of profanity by senior officers, suggestive sex [oral sex in bed, sex in a car, sex in a swimming pool], theft of government property, and rampant drug use by soldiers.

to read this -

The film features an excessive amount of profanity by noncomissioned officers, suggestive sex ['nuff said], redistribution of government property, and rampant alcohol use by soldiers.

I think you could paint a pretty accurate picture. That having been said, this movie doesn't give me a playful and irascible 'SGT Bilko' vibe. They're definitely out to sling some mud and portray it as 'commonplace'. I know of a drug running ring composed of supply sergeants that was busted a few years back, but that's not even a sizable minority. It's a bunch of criminals who happen to be soldiers.

The real military is not made up of saints and angels by any means, but reality doesn't appear to be too high on their agenda.

Miramax - Buffalo Soldiers Studio's profile of this military comedy includes plot and cast information. Check back for updates and the trailer. www.miramax.com/buffalo_soldiers

The website itself wouldn't paste and copy, but the information from an MSN search for buffalo soldiers brought this up. The website describes it as a comedy, based in Germany quite a few years ago. I'll give it a "pass" as a comedy, for now. It isn't based in current Afghanistan or Iraq, so I don't think it holds our soldiers up to disrespect.

Sorry, folks. It's a freedom of speech think. Individually, decide not to go. But this Dixie-Chicks mentality of trying to stop cultural things from happening that other people might want to see or hear is kind of not what tolerance and the Constitution are about.
