Tenet is saying that since Wilson sounded the all-clear on any trade going on because Nigerian officials told him so, Tenet says there is a possibility the Nigerian officials were not forthcoming because they suspected Wilson would be reporting back to the U.S. officials:As I understand it, the question in the SOTU address was not whether or not there was any trade on-going, but whether or not Saddam had attempted trade.
I'm not disagreeing with your viewpoint, but there is a difference there.

To be clear, at the post you refer to where I copied Tenet's comments re: Wilson, I was not arguing the content of the SOTU speech, but the errand Wilson had been sent on and who heard the fruits of it (i.e. not Cheney).
I have vigorously argued that the SOTU statement was true then and remains true to this day.
