NEW YORK (CNN) -- Krakatoa, a volcanic island in the Sunda Strait between the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra, was said by natives to be the property of Orang Aliyeh, a Javan god who was said to breathe sulfur from his nostrils when all was not well on earth.

That's a good book. It also points out that Darwin was, well........let's just say that he "borrowed" his ideas from a man named, Wallace.

Winchester's book is terrific and I heartily recommend it. An incredibly informative, throught-provoking, entertaining read.

I thought it was interesting how it described the change in the Muslim's AFTER they visited Meca.
Before: Calm and peaceful.
After: Militant and hate filled.

This was back in the 1800's, well before Israel captured Palistine.

This is pointed out in other books as well, which lends credence to the psy-op aspect of the mecca mind magnet.

Not yet, but after reading Krakatoa it's on my list. BTW, do recall the tidbits about Reuters? They were fascinating, too. I bet Julius Reuter is spinning in his grave these days.
