That's the testing phase where the builder and buyer of the ship can test it out in it's "Pre-Commisioning" designation. It's now going to be Commisioned, which is probably a better term the launching.

U.S.S Ronald Reagan
Goose bumps of what this vessel will accomplish. Surely the Brass of this vessel will make the crew earn it's name sake.

Long may she sail and defend the USA,and I'm sure the crew will do it's job so the Brass can take credit.

Anyone know exactly when this ceremony is scheduled, and whether it will be televised? C-SPAN maybe?

I had an opportunity to buy tickets that were for sale on ebay and almost bought them but wasn't sure I could clear my schedule. Just as well. I still wish I could have been there.

I got to see the Reagan up close a few weeks ago as she was parked next to three other aircraft carriers here at NAS Norfolk. Truly awesome sight, this carrier named after the first president I can remember. You bet I'll be watching this commissioning on the local news.

Have they started construction on the USS Bill Clinton garbage scow yet? God I hope not, it's bad enough we have a Seawolf class submarine named after Jimmy Carter that's under construction and due to hit the seas in the next year or so. I may not have been around when Carter was president but boy did I hear some stories from my parents.

Hmm *looks at forecast* Not calling for rain here. Actually looks like Norfolk/VA Beach is gonna be dry on Sat. You never know though, that's the fun of living within minutes of the Atlantic Ocean.
