I'm not sure of the legal system in Texas, but I can say with certainty that if this happened in NY, the family would not only be able to sue that hotel, they'd win.

There was a case in Brooklyn where a woman threw herself in front of a subway train in a suicide attempt. She lived (lost some fingers) and sued the MTA and won millions.

I say the hotel should sue Stroh's for damage to the hotel.
