Aunt and Uncle are GREAT gigs. You get all the fun of spoiling the little one, and added fun when you give her back to Mom and Dad all sugared up at naptime.

We're working on saving for my nephews and nieces college educations (we have 4, 2 on each side). There is no way their folks are going to be able to help with this, they're barely making ends meet themselves.
It doesn't take a village, but more and more it looks like it takes a tribe to raise a kid. What seems to work is 2 incomes and 1 to stay home full time = 3 people (either a bizarre relationship (which has obvious problems) or the parents and some helpful aunts and uncles.
