The former President disembarks from his airplane after a trip back to Arkansas. Although the hoopla is less now that he is out of office, Clinton still occasionally finds himself greeted by military personnel. This is one such occasion.

He climbs down the stairs, carrying two huge pigs, one under each arm. He gets to the bottom, and nods his head in return to the soldier's salute. "Son, what do you think about these?" he says. "Nice pigs, SIR!" comes the reply. Clinton gets mildly miffed and lectures, "I'll have you know these aren't just pigs but the finest of Arkansas Razorbacks. Top notch. I got one for Hillary, and one for Chelsea. What do you think about that?"

"Nice trade, SIR!

The parents, guardians and caregivers who are negligent enough to let this happen, should lose their right to ever have children in their care, again. EVERY summer this happens... when will people ever learn?

Unbelievable. I have to assume that the five year old was developmentally disabled or simply died in his sleep.

I can't imagine a normal five year old being unable to get out of a car.

She thought her husband had removed them from the van? "There was some miscommunication"?

For FIVE HOURS?

I think something else is going on here. And I hope to God those kids weren't turned over to meet their death at the hands of a foster parent for some piddly little infraction involving the birth parents.

But, then again, this IS California.

As sick as it may sound, I would pay to see this woman locked in a car in 120º heat for 5 hours. I'd just keep telling her, "Well I think your husband is supposed to get you out."

Would it be inappropriate to "Forget" to let her out of the squad car? It'd be a shame to waste a nice sunny July afternoon such as this.

She should be put locked in a steam closet or sauna which is turned on high for about 12 hrs and see if she likes it. But Life + 100 years for stupidity in San Quentin should suffice.

Naeemah Edwards, whose daughter attended the center, told KABC-TV she was shocked. ``They come in with my daughter, and they play together,'' she said, adding that she would not let her child to return to the center.

Well there is at least ONE smart parent out there.

POSSIBLY manslaughter??? Lock her in an SUV and leave it in the desert. But first take away her foster care priveledges, any other kids she might have, revoke her day care license and condemn the building for good measure.

My husband and I had 4 children, and not once did we leave one in a car by forgetting them. They were the first things we took out of the car, not the last. This is utterly barbaric. I just can't figure out why a foster mother would do this on purpose. On the other hand, didn't she wonder why things were so quiet for so long? This is negligence. Zzzzzzzzzzztttt! Where's Old Sparky?

``She indicated she thought someone else was going to get the children out of the car, possibly her husband,'' Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Al Grotefend said. ``There was some miscommunication.''

So maybe her husband (or whomever) was also at the center and she left the kids in the car and assumed he would go get them. Why not check after- oh, I don't know, an HOUR?!?! OR, perhaps he was to come by and pick them up and take them somewhere else. Why could they not have come inside to wait? What a sorry excuse for a parent, much less a foster parent.

How many of these women are on prozac or a generic equivilant or a cocktail of other psycho-trophic drugs with little consideration to the synergistic affects

There is a ship load of people out there driving cars in charge of potentially dangerous equipment who may be more than a few fries short a happy meal...

How else could you "forget" you locked children in a hot car...their attention drawn to a sale in the mall or something else equally pressing...and they completely "space out" something as critical as a child's life..

This isn't tragic! This is criminal! I cannot believe anyone with half a brain would not miss 2 children from 9 am until 2 pm. Where did she think the children were? If someone else would have brought them into the house - wouldn't she have seen them? It says, "when she came back" - back from where? - she's running a day care and she's not there. I'm outraged!

They should sentence her to 24 hours in the SUV on a hot sunny day and see how she does.

Smoot told investigators she discovered the boys in their car seats when she returned in the afternoon and pulled them from the vehicle.
The Slimes' article had this:

She returned to the car five hours later and discovered the bodies on the floor, he said. The older boy apparently had unstrapped the younger one from his car seat.
And when I read that I cried for a good ten minutes.
