Last year when Israel went into Jenin/West Bank it was insane at LF.

It still is :)). I think they now have concluded that at least some of the palestinians have been found, by "serious debaters", to really be Jews.

Of course, lately they've also been a bit preoccupied by thoughts of the FBI - you know, after getting a board member nabbed as a terrorist. They're running a quite hysterical CYA thread in which they're trying to say that all the scuzzy stuff on there is planted by people wanting to get the site in trouble.

Too late, and too pathetic ;).

They got one prominent poster who says "no, it's not Zionists, it's JEWS."

The_Skunk, he has no shame about it at all. Apparently, they also don't believe that Muslims around the world are a bit of a headache, rather that's Jew agitprop to get America to fight Israel's wars.

(Uh, Israel wants to fight Moros in the Philippines?)

Skunk is an interesting critter. Lives in Canada (Edmonton), and if the identity I dug up on him is correct, he's a member of a gay mormon group. Weird. Claims he's living in Canada as a fugitive from the law.

However: he also has links to a NY politician (uses a guest acct on the private site of the pol's treasurer).

"As well as those aboard the US submarines in the area, at least one of which photographed the attack through her periscope. When those films and photos are released, maybe there'll be something more to discuss."

Things like this have a mighty good chance of going missing before ever they can be released. ...Just like the files on MIA's and medical files on Gulf War Vets, etc. etc. etc.
Truth has become a thing to be feared.

Partisanship wins over truth contiually these days. American interests be _____. It is as if truth doesn't matter at all because principle is gone. It started long before the Clinton clods, too.

You figure they'll murder the crew members who were aboard as well? The ranking officers and civilian governmental officials who give the orders to do such things would certainly have perjured their oaths to protect and defend the United States, and would instead be demonstrating a superior loyalty to Israel, deserving thereby punishments even more severe than that handed out to convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, and indeed, their actions would be just as treasonable as his were.

The question that remains is one of motive: what was so important to the Israelis that they'd attack an American ship and attempt to kill the survivors, and try to keep the reason concealed for all these years. My own bet is that the answer is related to the proposed to the Isreali intention to use the two, possibly three nuclear devices said then to have been available to them at that time if the war's operations had gone badly for them, or if large numbers- thousands, hundreds of thousands, perhaps- of Israeli civilians were likely to be massacred should Israeli cities be overrun.

The Israeli military is not noted for developing weapons without also fully training those to use them in their use and developing the operational plans for exploiting such use. Damascus? Cairo? Amman? Or elsewhere?

Isreali nuclear policy, as described by US journalist in his book The Samson Option:

Israel will not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons to the Middle East. But in the event of another Holocaust, Israel will tear down the pillars of the Temple of Humanity....

(Uh, Israel wants to fight Moros in the Philippines?)

Israeli Mossad hitman Michael Harari was indeed very involved in certain activities in the Phillipines, though apparantly as a supplier of intelligence information to Phillipine pro-Communist forces rather than directly being involved in anti-Moro activities; this may have been a means of playing those forces against each other; but in order to do so at least one American officer was assassinated on April 21, 1989, probably at Harari's order and certainly with his foreknowledge, three days after Harari, left the Phillipines. Harari is still wanted in for a murder committed in Norway when Harari misidentified a Moroccan waiter for a terrorist suspect. And the death of at least one US congressman and the blackmail of another may also be linked to Harari during the period when he was Manuel Noriega's confidant and advisor on intelligence matters.

It wouldn't be at all unusual for Israeli observers/advisers to be at work in the Phillipines. Israel's General Moshe Dayan was an observer of US operations in Vietnam, the Israelis had similar military liason *counterparts* with the Rhodesian forces in Africa in 1978-79, and in Idi Amin's Uganda while Amin was in power from 1971-1979, prior to the 1976 Entebbe airport rescue and Amin's removal by the Tanzanian Army in '79. Amin bought his rebuilt Sherman tanks from Israel, among other interesting items in the Ugandan toybox.

I don't know about all this. It sounds strange. Ennes himself sounds strange, lately. An awful lot of conjecture, rumor, and nameless sources who disappears.

And then he's claiming that one of his fellow survivors is lying. Gee, I thought all of them were supposed to be perfectly trustworthy.

>>"Ummmmmm..... do you mean to tell me that you're not the same poster as "AveMaria"?"<<

No, I am not.

>>Or that you're not Gordon LeCompte Bolmer? Or that you're really not here at all? What??<<

You must have me confused with someone else.

>>"This is the thread. Read what it says--->"<<

The thread has been pulled.

>>"It was on the USS Liberty and was pulled on Saturday after it got 50 responses."<<

Some fringe groups have used the USS Liberty incident to promote their own sinister agendas. That is wrong. I take no one side in the Liberty controversy. I simply support a Congressional investigation into the issue. If Israel's side of the story holds up, that is fine with me.

>>"AveMaria was booted"<<

If the poster you refer to, was in the habit of attacking people simply because of their religious beliefs, then that poster certainly deserved to be booted. But what does that poster have to do with me?

I criticize people based on their wrong ideas and wrong political ideology. But I would never attack people based on the church they attend.

>>"If AM and this ComtedeMaistre are linked, this sheds new light on CdM's post a couple months back about "neocons."<<

Oh, so this is the agenda - to attack anyone who says anything unfavorable about neo-conservatives as being anti-Jewish. I will make you a deal. The minute that someone accuses Rabbi Daniel Lapin of the Toward Tradition group of being a neoconservative, then I will join you in condemning that person as engaging in the stereotyping of Jews.

The minute that someone labels Libertarian and other Rightist Jewish intellectuals such as Ludwig von Mises, Murray N. Rothbard, Sidney Hook and Frank Meyer as neoconservatives, then I will protest. In fact, in some of my posts, I have criticized people who have tried to misrepresent the ideas of Leo Strauss, and have tried to label Strauss a neo-con. Such people have never read any work by Strauss. I am old enough to remember the era when Strauss was alive, in the 1960s. No one back then, ever confused the ideas of Irving Kristol with those of Strauss.

It is a shame that so many young people are so ignorant, that they want to shut down any and all criticism of neo-cons, by belittling it as anti-semitic. In my view, to caricature all rightist Jews as neocons, is inexcusable ignorance. Jewish contribution to conservative ideas, is not limited to neoconservatism. Get it?

If you want me to recommend some books written by rightist Jewish intellectuals who are not neocons, I would be happy to do so.

You COMPLETELY misunderstood my post. I said quite clearly that if that were the only issue I would not accuse someone of being anti-Semitic because they were critical of neocons.

It's the combination of that issue, the Liberty AND the link between you and AveMaria(as noted on the Admin Mod note on the pulled thread) which links you to the kosher food thread which make me supicious.

You can say whatever you WANT about neo-cons. I don't care.

I am only able to post during coffee breaks at work, and I use a public access terminal. I assure you I have no link to the "avemaria" or whomever, that you refer to. If he or she attacked people simply on the basis of their religious beliefs, then I do not support that. And what is this thing about kosher food?

There is what strikes me as a very fair piece on the Liberty controversy in the June Naval Institute Proceeding: Friendless Fire. It does not favor the view that the attack was mistaken.
