>>>Us whities can be quite brutal ourselves when we get it wrong. God will distinguish us on a case by case basis. <<<
It was not that many hundred years ago that cheering crowds gathered at the Tower of London to watch traitors drawn and quartered, or that eternal infighting between Scottish Tribes (Clans) led to their defeat by the English.
It is but a blink in history and the Grace of God that we are not all living in an Africa of our own.

The transformation of Western European civilization from clans and barbarity to a society of individuals and law is truly remarkable.
Somehow the philosophy of the Enlightenment took hold and changed our Western world. Unfortunately, it hasn't been adopted by the vast majority of the world.
If someone could bottle the recipe and make the rest of the world take a dose, he'd be revered forever as a peacemaker.

It is but a blink in history and the Grace of God that we are not all living in an Africa of our own. Amen. Ask a moslem yugoslav, or an orthodox one (after we stepped in)just how close to the surface this kind of thing is.
Not especially religious, but it does make you wonder about the apple etc..
We (people) can be so appallingly brutal- civilization is something that must be cherished, protected, nurtured...and appreciated.
