If anybody wanted to contact me they could have done it here. I've been a member of Free Republic almost since the beginning.

I'm not surprised you didn't turn anything up on Google. People in certain lines of work don't have web sites and don't get quoted in the paper that often. I've known Terry Wilkinson for 20+ years and his decision to go public was a painful one that I'm sure will bring recriminations. But he loves his country a lot more than any political party or politician. I've received some emails today regarding his comments and have forwarded them on to him. It's his decision as to whether or not he wishes to respond.

But I don't feed anyone's desire for a witch hunt. When we ran the stories about Bill Clinton's sexual assaults on women, we identified a number of the women and the stories were widely discussed here. I don't recall anyone at Free Republic demanding "proof" of their identity although I did have a number of liberal media types hounding me for more information. I didn't share additional information with them on Bill Clinton's victims and I won't to anyone else on Terry Wilkinson.

It has been said here that I hate George Bush. I don't. I do have problems with some of the actions of his administration and I feel he was wrong to use undocumented information to justify the war with Iraq -- a war that Capitol Hill Blue supported without hesitation in a strong editorial on our home page.

However, I'm a journalist and, as such, don't play favorites with any politician or political party. If I feel any elected official has violated public trust, I question their actions. That's my job. If Al Gore were in the White House, I imagine the folks over at DU would be questioning my ancestry too.

I stand by the stories that run on our web site. You are free to read them or not read them, believe them or not believe them just as you are free to believe or question stories that appear in any other publication. It's a free world.

Cute, Doug. Run a single source story that we're supposed to believe? I don't buy Mystery Meat. Even Woodward and Bernstein double checked their sources.

Sorry, Doug. I don't believe you. This has been done before on your site.

You dislike Bush? Fine. You want to peddle the claim that he pushed to make the Niger story up? You'd better have more than "Terence Wilkenson" to back your story up.

Now where did you leave your "high powered Republican consultants" from last January's steaming pile? Oh yeah. In a bar with "Terence Wilkenson".

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Is the courageous Wilkinson going to be making these serious allegations against the President, on the record, to any other leading news outlets besides yours, Doug?

Whether anyone at Free Republic hounded you for substantiation, rest assured, those names were researched and vetted and it was well noted which names the stories could not be verified.

And I would note, when considering a story one considers the subject. Bush as an honest man is not a "liar", hence the dispute of your characterization. Clinton as a predator was amply documented.

Beyond what is alleged in this thread, the article on your website is false on its face. The White House admitting that something was shown to be untrue does not in any way shape or form mean that the White House admits Bush lied. As a matter of fact, the White House categorally denies lying. Your article lies.

But if you know Terry so well, it should not be difficult for you to call him up and find out some other details of the alleged briefing, such as other names of people involved, who can then be asked if any such thing ever occurred.
