I am opposed to inaccurate generalizations and do not deny that I am a Nationalist. Millions of students are educated in America's public schools and that will NOT change. There is no alternative- not home schooling nor private- for the bulk of Americans. These are viable alternatives for a very small percentage of the population, the wealthy or ideologically motivated.

Perhaps the first goal of a new nation is to create a public school system and for good reason. A nation wherein only the wealthy or connected can get a decent education is a nation condemned to failure. One of the reasons this is the wealthiest, most powerful nation in history is because its public education system has served it well.

What a load of hoooey. We are the wealthiest people to ever walk the face of the Earth and yet we pretend we can not afford schooling without government aid/control. I've been in slums all over the world that had *multiple* naturally occuring private schools for extremely modest fees that even the impoverished slum dwellers could afford.
