Hamilton could never become President because he wasn't born in the Untied States. Had nothing to do with his being from New York.

Washington and Jefferson weren't born in the United States either, yet they were eligible for the presidency, as was Hamilton, because of Article II, Section 5 of the Constitution: "...or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution...".
