Have you any experience withthe Schwarzbein Principle? It is a nutritional approach with limits the glycemic intake (kind of a modified Atkins). You are allowed limited good carbs with each meal but the principle is to maintain a level amount of insulin in the body system. The spikes in insulin due to sugar result in the sugars being stored in the body as fat.

Yep, It is a version of carb counting that works real well. Also called consistant carbs or combining carbs. It works great with most folks! Didya know that the more you exercise the fewer the insulin spikes?

I've given up regular sugar in my daily hot tea and iced tea also no sodas at all. I feel better. Haven't lost much weight but feeling better is ok with me.

Hey, quality of life always comes first!

My ob/gyn practioner has been telling all her patients (a lot of my friends and I see the same nurse) to purchase the book and follow the guidelines. I didn't really need to lose any weight so I didn't buy the book but at 40 I started to keep a few extra pounds so I got the book and began reading and finding that her thesis really seemed to make sense. Atkins made me an emotional wreck but Schwarzbein seems to be fine.

For those who might wonder...I eat my protien first to get digestion started then eat a good carb combined with a fat. And no sugar. Only good breads, ones made of whole wheat and have added nuts and other nutricious items. I still drink wine (three carbs per 6 oz) but with this diet I just feel better all around.
