And I'll bet the change was driven by a consumer panel of Oreo "experts" who wanted their frosting to remain on one side of the cookie because that's the way they ate them.

Something I've never understood, a person who orders a diet soda with his/her Big Mac and supersized fries.
Okay got my dead horse out to beat on....the aspartame in that diet soda actually increases their appetite, so they purchase the Big Mac and supersized fries. And on the way home, they will probably stop for donuts or ice cream.

So is Dr Pepper from Dublin, Texas (pure cane sugar)
To: kaktuskid
Like real butter, lard, and sugar! They're actually healthier and because they are real food, they're more filling. So, you'll eat less and enjoy them more.

"These products are loaded with partially hydrogenated oils which are created by an artificial process and which are used because they are cheaper than using real butter, etc. PHO remains in the body and is super linked with cancer and heart disease. There is nothing much 'natural' about it."Would a 'WARNING' label from the FDA and Surgeon General suffice?
And for the blind shopper who can't read labels, look for supermarkets to man the aisles with robotic 'Ingredient Readers':
"WARNING -- THESE COOKIES ARE MADE WITH FATS AND REALLY BAD PROCESSED SH*T WHICH MAY CAUSE YOUR @SS-SIZE TO INFLATE, AND YOUR LIFE-SPAN SHORTENED..."

It's not the salad but the salad dressing. Oprah talked about this just last week.

For example, all the no-fat products that were super loaded with sugar. I heard a doctor saying eating thosew ill kill you just as much as the high fat ones. Not just the "no fat products"...how about the "healthy yogurt drinks with 48 grams of sugar, in the form of corn syrup? How about the "100% Whole Wheat Breads" with high fructose corn syrup? I guess it depends on how 100% is defined.
I never eat the "no fat" or "no sugar" stuff. I just assume it uses some chemical to replace the food.

It's all in the way that the grains are stored after harvest, according to the strictest kashruth laws. If any moisture gets into the grain, the kernels will swell, and many Rabbis consider this to be leavening. By avoiding corn completely, theres no problem. At least that's something like the way it was explained to me about 30 years ago.

To those who say that they can't lose weight on a diet, again, I have just two things to say! 1) Say NO! and 2) Get off your ass and get some exercise! You are right. You have to want to really lose weight to do it. There are no shortcuts or easy way out. But once you commit yourself to losing weight, it's actually pretty easy. I get up at 5AM every morning and walk three miles. Then I have two hard-boiled eggs and go to work whereupon I walk another 3-4 meals at lunchtime (lunch for me is either a can of sardines or a handful of peanuts). Dinner is whatever I want so long as it is nutritious and healthy. Meat, fish, vegetables, rice, fruit, nuts. Virtually nothing processed and especially nothing with hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup. It means saying NO to all junk food, processed supermarket food and fast food. As a nod to the Atkins diet, I have eliminated bread and potatos as well. But I still have rice once or twice a week and I haven't given up my beer and wine. So I'm not really on the Atkins Diet, but simply a moderated version of it.
Still, it works. The diet and exercise has resulted in 44 pounds lost since April 1.
All it takes is a plan and the discipline to carry it out.

I've yet to see an overweight person ask for anything other than a "diet" anything.

Refined sugar is nothing worth defending either, as those who have lost weight by restricting carbohydrates have learned. What I do is buy things without added sugar and sprinkle on about half of a teaspoon of real sugar.
Give up meat protein? No way. I figure teeth are for something, and it just isn't tofu!

You don't drink it at all? I rarely drink soda, but haven't stopped completely. I drink it so rarely for the sake of my health. Back in HS, like most others my age, I guzzled down several a day and the pounds shot on me very fast. I don't want that to happen again. I find orange juice just as satisfying.

Who knows who could be next on the chopping block? Uh, I hope we'll at least be allowed to eat bread and drink water...
But of course those are not the only things I want to consume. To accept this garbage would be tantamount to accepting slavery. Having the rulers decide what you eat is an encroachment on liberty that has absolutely no place in America.

I'm with you on this one--aspartame is not on the FDA list of GRAS (generally recognized as safe). Doesn't seem anyone knows and/or cares. It's everywhere. Remember when it was all called Nutrasweet? They had a 7 year exclusive on it; then it was renamed aspartame.
