No, no, I was raised by Southern protestants...the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" was a YANKEE song. ;-)

My best friend in the USMC joked that where he grew up, "damn" and "yankee" only made a single word :o)

We told her that for years but it was ingrained in her that "Amazing Grace" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" were Southern Protestant songs, by either the Nuns or my Grandparents.

There are problably some neo-confederates on FR reading this thread right now and having heart palapataions that one person in the US thought for most of her life that "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" was a hymn associated with the South.
