There are many bills that have passed through Congress and become law that are unconstitutional. There are many cases that have gone through the SC process and wrongly ruled by the USSC. They too are unconstitutional decisions. It's a damn shame that we don't live in a world populated by mostly conservative minded, freedom loving, strict constructionist, constitutional supporting individuals. The truth is, that's what we traditional conservatives face in the modern age of American politics and we'll just have to make the best of it. That means conservatives need to employ the best political gamesmanship possible, if we want to keep the leftwing, liberal socialists from taking back control of the federal government.
Conservative Republicans today face a much different opponent then the Founding Fathers did in their day, but we've got to be just as tough as they were. We take what we can get and come back to fight another day.

Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the Presidency This is one that should be repeated over and over -- the contrast between Bubba and Dubya is beyond words.

I have no doubt that a lot of people misunderstand other religions, but all I was doing was giving an anecdote about my Mother's innocent misperceptions of some hymnals. It isn't like she was ready to go out in the street with a pitchfork and burn down the local Lutheran church.Of course. I realize that. Speaking of hymnals, once every two months or so I go to Presbyterian church because my sister sings solo there (she's a voice major in college, and she's very good.)
They actually use politically correct hymnals at this church! For instance in "My Country Tis of Thee", there's a line that goes "land where my fathers died". I this hymnal, there;s an asterisk after the word fathers and at the bottom it says "*-or parents". This appears in every song that has a masculine pronoun.
Luckily, this church only uses the original lyrics.

I suggest we save our spirited discourse for the loyal opposition, our real opponent. Wouldn't you agree?

Thanks for the thread justshe, it's too bad it got raided by the malcontents and of course "The Gifted One" but it was still a good thread.
I believe there are less Bush Bashers over at DU these days. The DNC must be working overtime

I was raised a Lutheran in a very Catholic area (New Orleans) and I didn't hear any of that. The people that I knew cut right to the chase. What I did hear was that Lutherans will burn in hell.

Well...the ones who came on the thread simply to disrupt, seemed to be 'handled'....either with refutations, or by just being ignored. Those who wanted honest communication and dialogue, hopefully got that as well. ravingnutter did a superb job of 'discussion', imo.
I still think it is good to 'keep things in perspective'.
Thanks for the bump!

What I did hear was that Lutherans will burn in hell.Oh boy! I never heard anything that bad. My church actually has a good relationship with the Catholic Church. They are located next door to us, and we often allow each other to share parking lots, maintainance equipment, and the like. In fact, when my pastor's daughter got married, her usband was a Catholic. My pastor allowed the Priest to co-officiate the ceremony, and even say the blessing for Communion.

If there is one thing that I have learned by being a member here on Free Republic, it's this:
The extremest here that claim to be "true conservatives" will never be happy because the candidate that they approve of will never be elected, the same goes for the far left.
They expect everything to change overnight and the total lack of political reality is mind boggling. I guess that's why they're called the "Fringe" (flapping in the breeze). Everytime we see a controversial decision by the SCOTUS or the president sign some domestic spending bill that 80% of the country supports, the go off the deep end with irrational attacks and name calling. Sometimes I wonder how they manage in real life or handle marriage or children, because in my world, things don't go my way all of the time, hell I'm lucky if they go my way 50% of the time.
Some people can't handle this reality and I know plenty who can't. In most cases they're spoiled brats that happened to become adults. All of these bills and policies can be changed and adjusted in time, everything these malcontents cry about were promised by this president during his campaign and I guess there idea of principles are to promise one thing and do another, but the fact is, George W. Bush promised he would add a prescription drug program, he promised a education spending to be increased, and just about everything they're belly aching about today.
The things that justshe listed are just plain gravy in my world. President Bush has proven to be strong honest leader who has passed more conservative measures than Ronald Reagan did in his first 3 years in office by far. But don't hold your breath waiting for these malcontents to see this, they can't se past this mornings breakfast

Thanks for your post, Mike. No, they won't see it that way. Some are the spoiled brats you describe. Others are fringers and DNC plants, here to divide Republicans in order to advance their own agenda.
I sometimes wonder if we are a DNC test market.
