I would guess that if President Bush issued executive orders to outlaw abortion, packed the Supreme Court with conservatives, ordered Ashcroft to indict Clinton tomorrow, and cancelled both the Education and Farm Subsidy bills... Now you're talking my language!

The point is, Todd, that predictions of voters deserting him in droves is simply hot air.
If the democrats and the middle didn't desert Clinton, why would the Republicans and the middle desert Bush?
To: MissAmericanPie
Bush himself said it. That he might not run again. I missed that nugget of news. Thanks for sharing some positive news for a change.

I would guess that if President Bush issued executive orders to outlaw abortion, packed the Supreme Court with conservatives, ordered Ashcroft to indict Clinton tomorrow, and cancelled both the Education and Farm Subsidy bills, you would STILL find him unacceptable.
And told the truth about islam and said he was sorry for signing CFR and sorry for back stabbing Lott and our Christian leaders. Stops listening to Grover and meeting with terroist. Well then he just might get some support from TLBSHOW!
Until then Bush does not have my support beyond the war with Iraq.

I want to support George W. Bush, he has done a few good things, but his continuing expansion of government social programs that in my opinion go against the constitution, make it very difficult.
He has been very slow at replacing the clintonistas in the Department of Interior, the land grabs continue, he expanded the Department of Education, his "No Child Left Behind," program is the next step in Outcome Based Education-Goals 2000-School to Work, the Soviet Education System. The increase in funding the Arts, I won't go into what is now considered art. Massive expansion of the Farm Program, (can you say welfare for Archer Daniels Midland.) the Hart Rudman Homeland Defense Act. Taking your tax dollars and buying prescriptions for seniors, Tax Cuts, (more welfare) for those who don't pay taxes. He resisted arming pilots, supports the Assult Weapons Ban. Since I live near the Mexican Border, my favorite has to be, his open border policy.
Please help me find a reason to support him.

OK Fred, we now see what principles you have. Issuing executive orders over abortion would deny the authority of the Supreme Court. President Bush has no authority to order an indictment of the Clintons. Cancelling the two bills, passed by both houses of Congress and signed into law, would be blatantly unconstitutional. You apparently want a dictator who will rule in the manner you prefer.

You are the worst example of Bushbot I have ever come across. Most of the conservative here on FR have been here since the beginning fighting the good fight. We supported Bush because he told us he was conservative and we believed him. Now we feel cheated. He signs and supports one liberal agenda item after another and we are supposed to be happy about it. The fact is that if Hillary Clinton was doing half the stuff Bush is doing most of you Bushbots would be crying blooding murder, but because George II is doing it it is all right with you. I for one am tired of hearing about some supposed Bush agenda to outwit the Dems. The only agenda I see is Karl Roves agenda to get Bush re-elected by talking like a conservative and governing like a liberal, thus playing both sides of the street. It may be successful, but that doesn't make him a conservative, and doesn't make many of us happy. My greatest concern is that so many of your type have no guiding principles in your life. You are wrapped up in the personality and not the actions of the person you support. How pathetic.

"Just take a peak at Bush's fundraising. You don't pull in that kind of money if your base is unhappy." Everyone I pinged are old friends of mine.
I'm sorry, old friends. I've got to disagree with you.
Look at where this money is coming from.
Agribusiness, the hotel and entertainment business, the construction industry and the textile corporations all depend on cheap labor for increased profits.
As long as GW keeps the borders open, they'll contribute to his campaign.
It's simply not true that Conservatives are happy with GW.
There is too much socialistic water under the bridge since he took office to make them satisfied.
All of this pains me greatly because I loved that man more than any President we have ever had in my lifetime.
I still respect his decision to go into Iraq, and I admire his courage in doing so.
With his domestic policies, however, I feel betrayed like so many Conservatives I talk with every day.

Please help me find a reason to support him. I thought he displayed some leadership qualities for a while, but now I see him as a politician and marionette. Very sad to see Dubya play his assigned role rather than exhibiting presidential leadership.

Me, call you names? after all the crap you have dished out the past 3 weeks around here? You are one pathetic cry baby.
To: TexasCowboy
You may not like his base, but his base likes Bush -- and they are NOT deserting him.
That's wishful thinking of your part.

You don't want a reason to support him. Go to DU and find a candidate to your liking.
Or go to one of the third party sites and find like-minded folks who will kvetch in unison, and where you can feel self-satisfied at your principles.
To: redangus
That was well stated.

I'm sorry, old friends. I've got to disagree with you. We're all dead meat, Cobby. I had high hopes too. I went to the FR Inaugural Ball because I was so hopeful.
That was then and boy was I a sucker.
To: redangus
Why do you call people Bush Bots? Are they more stupid than Democrats? If someone isnt a libertarian, are they thus...unthinking? Why should an intelligent voter support the fringe to gain your approbation when supporting the majority is in one's best interest? If you really think a confident, assured Republican will cower by being called a bush Bot, you are as dumb as the supporters of Harry Browne.
