I don't think I was smug about it. I think Strom Thurmond was kind of smug, because he was acting as the vanguard of Christian morality when in fact he was nothing more than a racist, sexist opportunist. Of course, he was our racist, sexist opportunist, and I appreciate his voting record. But that won't help him now, will it?
