Does anyone know if this movie includes the Resurrection?...I can't believe that the movie would end at that point. (I don't believe any movie has ever stopped at the crucifixion...)
Our faith wouldn't allow it.

Thanks for the ping*
This movie continues to build as it goes along.
You noticed that the author was able to delve into details of the movie without needing to listen to the text.
A true testament of the strength of the movie.

I believe he also said that we'd earn a medal just sitting through it!
I've got just the shirt for it! *Grins*
Do Not buy a large drink before seeing this masterpiece! (You know what happened last time!!!)
I imagine the soundtrack will be just as moving.

I believe Jesus Christ Superstar ended with the crucifixion. So did The Life of Brian.

You Protestants should REALLY try reading your Bibles sometime, instead of reading your prejudicesThat's one nasty, repugnant, and unfair generalization there, friend.

I can't wait to see this movie. Focusing on the Passion IMO is just what the Catholic Church needs to do more. In the modern church the Mass has become a celebration, not a sacrifice, step up for your doughnuts and fellowship afterwards.
When I was very young praying the Stations of the Cross was my favorite devotion. Then Vatican II came along, and they had to add that 15th station, the Resurrection. Can't focus on that depressing crucifixion. And many Catholic churches don't even have a crucifix anymore, it's the cross with the resurrected Christ on it. IMO we have to FACE WHAT HE DID FOR US.
And facing it can be a transforming experience. Sounds like this movie may be it for some people. Way to go Mel!!

I was watching the 700 Club the other day and Pat Robertson made it clear he's not a fan of the Catholic Church. As I understand it, neither is Mel, at least not the current church hierarchy. He particularly rejects the PC revisionism of Vatican 2. I don't know alot about the particulars of Vatican 2, just the surface things like no more latin mass and fish on Friday isn't required anymore. I understand that there's a lot more substantive theological disruption to what traditionalists feel was the core of being a Catholic. It's hard to get a good grip on things like this. The Vatican (particularly the Jesuits) invented spin. Doesn't make them good or bad, just makes it hard to ferret out the different pieces of what's really going on.
As a completely seperate thought, wouldn't you love to roam freely through the Vatican, particularly the libraries (with the appropriate translators) and just see what there really is to see there?

Can somebody post a link to the trailer?!

Your view sounds good until you do a reality check and remember things like Jim Jones and Guyana, and Osama bin Laden. I am sure folks like that think they have it right in their heart.

I was hoping the Pope would give me a guided tour. *grins*
It would be fascinating to see.

I'n *NOT* disdaining her mate. I'm following the teaching of my Lord which over and over tells me never to put anyone, including my own father and mother, in front of Him.
I get so tired of Catholics (I grew up as an altar boy saying the mass in Latin) preaching to me about my views on Mary.

The problem we have at FR especially is that Catholics at FR do not bash Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, rabbis, et al.
Where as the pope is CONSTANTLY bashed (not simply criticized) by certain types of FReepers.
It is so apparent to anyone who follows any religion threads whatsoever.
My point is not that anyone should be free from criticism, but simply that the divisiveness is largely one-sided, and it is anti-Catholic.
