There are religious wingnuts every year making the news who beat their children because they found some verse in the Bible they liked. The world is a bit more complicated than straight/gay, perverted/normal. I know a gay couple raising a child who are far better parents than most I've met. Discounting them and their family out of hand is an ugly and stupid thing to do, to put it kindly.
