WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush, trying again to explain the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, said on Saturday that suspected arms sites had been looted in the waning days of Saddam Hussein's rule.
"For more than a decade, Saddam Hussein went to great lengths to hide his weapons from the world. And in the regime's final days, documents and suspected weapons sites were looted and burned," Bush said in his weekly radio address.

Aha! Your boss's sentiment? But you haven't quite mastered the Arab syntax and idiom yet :)).
Got meds?
I must be missing your point. What I said is that from a military stand point, taking out the greatest threat to the troops would be logical. Our strategy was to secure the oil fields first and then go looking for WMD sites. That naturally raises questions about if anyone except the public was taking the WMD story seriously.

The policy of "staying out" which you deplore has never been tried. Your policy of constant micromangement of this hopeless screwed up region, by contrast, has been tried in spades and backfired repeatedly.
Are we all seeing the same pattern? The same result?
You're right, we'd be in much worse shape. Had we not used our enemies to fight each other into the dirt, all we'd have is a sea of strong enemies. Had we not influenced the actions of our enemies, they'd have been free to grow and prosper. As it is, we used the weak to fight the strong, and history seems to bear out that it worked pretty well.
Your policy of getting deeper into the quagmire (another American dead since your original "feel good" post) is a prescription of even more blowback and unintended consequences.
We are exactly where we need to be. A surgeon has to cut tissue to save the patient, so do we. The disease will not heal itself, so we had best cure it when and where we choose.
The policy of "staying out" which you deplore has never been tried.
Unless you're willing to unplug Hollywood, stop buying oil, and wait at home until Sharia is imposed, there is no way to avoid this fight. We've chosen our destiny, it involves technology, freedom, and democracy. The Islamists have choses theirs, it involves tradition, virtue, and submission to God. Our way of life threatens to destroy theirs, and before long, it will. They have no choice but to either stop going to their mosques, start buying Nikes, and wait at home until Sharia is deposed, or to fight back.
Let me be perfectly clear. What we are, in the comforts of our own home, will destroy everything they care about. Our ideas about government, women's rights, church and state, justice, and materialism infect their purity. Our very existence will destroy their culture, their social order, their heritage, their history. Until you understand that, your understanding of their motivations will be flawed.

It has because the Soviet Union was around as a counterbalance. What we did, they undid, and vice versa. Now, there is no one who can effectively block our plans. Think about it.
Of course, there is a necessity for some laws. But, America is structured on the federal level, followed by the state and then the county and then the city. And if that isn't enough, try special districts that involk your tax dollar towards large business machines, squandering your money away.
"Do you believe in any laws? Without some laws, we aren't not truly free. Government is meant to be a protection of its citizens. Arguing for no government is foolish." -- Cathryn Crawford
How did all of this happen? How has government become the behemoth that it is? How has America become a nasty, interfering dominating warmonger nation that it is?
Several reasons come to mind. Chief among them is the lethargy of the general public.
Absolutely. Excellent point. However, why do you believe that that is the case in the instance of Iraq?
I see that the lies continue. Mr. Credibility strikes again.
Can't be all THAT bad, Bucky. You're still here, after all. And no "tyrannical nation" like you continue to sob about would so long tolerate your whining and lying. here, you are obviously free to do so as long as it soothes you to. We, however, as in post #47 on this thread (among MANY others) are equally free to call you on your nonsense.
Bucky, Bucky, Bucky...you know perfectly well that I did just that, NUMEROUS times, specifically and pointedly. All of which, I might add, you then ignored totally. However, for those just joining the fun, I'll recap:
In your post # 11, you stated that the United States supplied Iraq with weapons of mass destruction. This was totally refuted in post #47, which you utterly failed to respond to. You nonetheless proceeded to repeat this slander of MY country in #120, which was deleted because you chose to use profanity more worthy of a rap song than a serious discussion of the issues.
You followed this up by accusing no less than a half-dozen FReepers of various offenses ranging from statism to Naziism. In your feverish rage, you even called someone who was DEFENDING you an "ass". Oh, and let's not forget the support you showed towards terrorists in Israel, and your wanton bashing of that nation.
Okay, Bucky. I've "put up". You gonna "shuddup" now, or continue to dig your hole?
Let me guess...
Just like a Leftist...get caught, change the subject.
No wonder you're a laughingstock.
As I said earlier, unworthy of response, respect, or regard.
