try north fork wines from long island. they're family run vineyards and it's beautiful country as opposed to the hamptons/south fork chaos.

there are little towns along the way that are true americana
....quiet,with american flags flying from gracious victorians.little restaurants and farm stands. go for the ride and visit the vineyards. you'll be welcomed.

Well, thank you so much for that advice and I will try it out. When I lived in California (LA) I used to make periodic visits to the Napa and Sonoma Valleys and I am not saying anything original when I say what a great time it was. I have also been to some of the Finger Lakes wineries -- Bully Hill was a riot, at least back in the 80s -- but haven't ventured out to the Hamptons. Now I will, and I thank you!!
